Adult Programs & Classes

At Galbraith Tennis Center, our adult programs and classes offer something for all levels of play and experience. New to the game? Try Tennis 101! Refining your skills? Tune-up your game with Skills & Drills or one of our Live Ball Clinics. Looking to improve your fitness? Cardio Tennis will give you a great workout with heart-pumping, non-stop action.

GTC uses the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) for many of our programs to help players find the class that best fits their level of play. For assistance in determining your rating and picking a program click here. If you have additional questions about which program is best for your level, email gtc@pnw.usta.com to schedule a 15-minute evaluation (*fees may apply). Below is a list of current adult programs. For additional info, including class days, times, and instructors, and/or to register, click the “Register” link that corresponds with the class you’re interested in. You will be taken to our online portal.

Programs vs. Classes

Programs are comprised of multiple classes aggregated into monthly “sessions” (e.g. Live Ball 3.5 – September, Live Ball 3.5 – October, etc.).
Classes are single occurrence play opportunities like Cardio Tennis, Men’s Night, and Ladies’ Day.

 

Beginner (1.0 and Above)

Tennis 101

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This 6-week program is perfect for those new or re-entering the game. Over the course of 6-weeks, you'll develop rally skills using a proven progression that maximizes hitting time using slower and lighter balls and smaller court sizes that lead to confident play on a full size court. The goal is for everyone to develop confidence and learn basic skills to serve, rally, score, and understand doubles positioning and play all in a fun, friendly, active, and encouraging environment.

Beginner Skills & Drills

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Participants will learn basic positions for singles and doubles, rallying with a peer and playing out points at a slow pace.

Tennis 201

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Designed to cover fundamentals and techniques for all strokes in tennis – forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads & serves, players will learn the importance of the rally and keeping balls in play as well as basic footwork patterns of movement. The goal for this class will be to rally with a peer at a slow to medium pace.

2.5 and Above

Skills & Drills

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Combining fast-paced doubles drills and point play with professional coaching, this is a great opportunity to practice volleys, groundstrokes, and court positioning all while getting in a great workout. This program is open to levels 2.5 and above.

Singles Clinic 2.5 & 3.0

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This clinic's focus is on singles strategy, positioning, movement, high-percentage vs. low-percentage shots, and how to beat various playing styles. Players are expected to rally with directional control at a medium pace to take this class.

3.0 and Above

Live Ball Clinic 3.0

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Focusing on continued development of stroke mechanics, net play, and doubles tactics, you’ll rally with your peers while working on depth, direction, and consistency when hitting the ball. The goal for this clinic will be for you to transition to our Live Ball Clinic 3.5.

Women's Clinic 3.0+

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Focusing heavily on stroke mechanics, rallying skills and net play, you’ll work on your technique and footwork while also learning to hit the ball with depth, direction, and control at a medium pace.

Women's Clinic 3.5

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Focuses heavily on stroke mechanics, rallying skills and net play. Players will concentrate on their technique, contact points, footwork as well as learning to hit with directional and depth control at a medium pace.

Men's Day 4.0+

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

For players rated 4.0 and above, this is a great way to play competitive tennis and meet new friends! Rotations occur every 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to play with and against a variety of different players.

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Improve your fitness and tennis game with this class which combines fast-paced advanced doubles drills and point play with professional coaching. This is a great opportunity to practice volleys, groundstrokes, and court positioning all while getting in a great workout. This activity is open to levels 4.0 and above.

Women's Clinic 4.0+

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Focuses on court positioning and shot selection using fast-moving, college-style drills. You’ll have the opportunity to learn advanced strategy as well as the technique necessary to execute. This strategy-based clinic will help elevate your tennis IQ and take your game to the next level. Players must be rated 4.0 or above to participate in this program.

Ball Machine Clinic

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Tailored towards defining your technique and improving your consistency, this is a great opportunity to work on any weaknesses that may be plaguing your game and help build confidence in your shot making. All levels are welcome.

Cardio Tennis

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This high energy class combines tennis with a heart-pumping, full-body workout. You'll be on the move for duration of the class, hitting a lot of balls, putting you in full calorie-burning mode. Make this class part of your weekly routine and your fitness will improve in no time!

Men's Night

Play competitive tennis and meet new friends! Players are paired and rotated every 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to play with and against a variety of different players. You must be able to serve.

Mixed 3.0+ USTA League Training

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 |3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This is a drop-in class for GTC USTA League Teams for levels 3.0 and above. Give your team the edge over the competition.

Mixed Doubles

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Play competitive tennis and meet new friends! Men and women are paired and rotated every 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to play with and against a variety of different players. You must be able to serve.

Women's Flight Challenge

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Provides a great opportunity to compete against other women of all levels and get in extra match play. Compete as an individual in a doubles format. You'll play a total of 90 minutes and up to 24 games per match, rotating partners every 8 games. Your individual wins and losses will be tracked weekly and determine your court assignments the following week. The individual with the most games won at the end of the 12 weeks will be crowned champion. Begins Wednesday, September 4th!
