Adult Programs & Classes

At Galbraith Tennis Center, our adult programs and classes offer something for all levels of play and experience. New to the game? Try Tennis 101! Refining your skills? Tune-up your game with Skills & Drills or one of our Live Ball Clinics. Looking to improve your fitness? Cardio Tennis will give you a great workout with heart-pumping, non-stop action.

GTC uses the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) for many of our programs to help players find the class that best fits their level of play. For assistance in determining your rating and picking a program click here.

Below is a list of current adult programs. For additional info, including class days, times, and instructors, and/or to register, click the “Register” link that corresponds with the class you’re interested in. You will be taken to our online portal.

Programs vs. Classes

Programs are comprised of multiple classes aggregated into monthly “sessions” (e.g. Live Ball 3.5 – September, Live Ball 3.5 – October, etc.).
Classes are single occurrence play opportunities like Cardio Tennis, Men’s Night, and Ladies’ Day.

Beginner (1.0 and Above)

Tennis 101

Program Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This 6-week program is perfect for those new or re-entering the game. Over the course of 6-weeks, you'll develop rally skills using a proven progression that maximizes hitting time using slower and lighter balls and smaller court sizes that lead to confident play on a full size court. The goal is for everyone to develop confidence and learn basic skills to serve, rally, score, and understand doubles positioning and play all in a fun, friendly, active, and encouraging environment.

Tennis 201

Program Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Designed to cover fundamentals and techniques for all strokes in tennis – forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads & serves, players will learn the importance of the rally and keeping balls in play as well as basic footwork patterns of movement. The goal for this class will be to rally with a peer at a slow to medium pace.

2.5 and Above

Skills & Drills

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Combining fast-paced doubles drills and point play with professional coaching, this is a great opportunity to practice volleys, groundstrokes, and court positioning all while getting in a great workout. This program is open to levels 2.5 and above.

Serve and Return

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This clinic's focus is on singles strategy, positioning, movement, high-percentage vs. low-percentage shots, and how to beat various playing styles. Players are expected to rally with directional control at a medium pace to take this class.

Women’s Doubles Flight Challenge

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Beginner and Intermediate.

Work on your doubles in this fast and fun competition. Play as many games as possible in each 30 minute round. This will allow you to play with and against different players.

Advanced registration for the dates you want to participate is encouraged. Space is limited and registration closes 24 hr before the class starts.

Ball Machine

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Adults only. Our Ball Machine Class is tailored towards refining your technique and improving your consistency. This is a great opportunity to work on any weaknesses that may be plaguing your game and help build confidence in your shot making. All levels are welcome.

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Level based Round Robin Singles Match play (please contact Shane by text at 253-260-7367 or email at shane.cropper@pnw.usta.com if you have questions).

Work on your singles game in this fast and fun competition. Play as many games as possible in each 30 minute round.

Cardio Class

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Intermediate and Advanced.

This high energy class combines tennis with a heart-pumping, full-body workout. You'll be on the move for duration of the class, hitting a lot of balls, putting you in full calorie-burning mode. Make this class part of your weekly routine and your fitness will improve in no time!

Co-Ed Doubles Strategy 3.5+

Class Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Focuses heavily on stroke mechanics, rallying skills and net play. Players will concentrate on their technique, contact points, footwork as well as learning to hit with directional and depth control at a medium pace.

Adaptive Classes

Love Serving Autism

The Love Serving Autism classes teach children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities communication and life skills for functional independence on and off the courts. The participants engage in hand-eye coordination activities to improve motor coordination, stroke production drills to improve gross motor skills, and social interaction/word-of-the-day activities to improve communication and life skills. The lesson plans are progressive, with the participants continuing to learn new skills each week.
