Adult Programs & Classes

At Vancouver Tennis Center, our adult programs and classes offer something for all levels of play and experience. New to the game? Tennis 101 or Tennis 201! Refining your skills? Tune-up your game with Singles 3.0+ or one of our Live Ball Clinics. Looking to improve your fitness? Cardio Tennis will give you a great workout with heart-pumping, non-stop action.

VTC uses the National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) for many of our programs to help players find the class that best fits their level of play. For assistance in determining your rating and picking a program click here. If you have additional questions about which program is best for your level, email vtc@pnw.usta.com to schedule a 15-minute evaluation (*fees may apply). In your message please include your name, rating and prior experience.

Below is a list of current adult programs. For additional info, including class days, times, and instructors, and/or to register, click the “Register” link that corresponds with the class you’re interested in. You will be taken to our online portal.

Programs vs. Classes

Programs are comprised of multiple classes aggregated into monthly “sessions” (e.g. Live Ball 3.5 – September, Live Ball 3.5 – October, etc.).

Classes are single occurrence play opportunities like Cardio Tennis, Men’s Night, and Ladies’ Day.

 

Beginner (1.0 and Above)

Tennis 101

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

This 6-week program is perfect for those new or re-entering the game. Over the course of 6-weeks, you'll develop rally skills using a proven progression that maximizes hitting time using slower and lighter balls and smaller court sizes that lead to confident play on a full size court. The goal is for everyone to develop confidence and learn basic skills to serve, rally, score, and understand doubles positioning and play all in a fun, friendly, active, and encouraging environment.

Tennis 201

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

The perfect sequel program to Tennis 101. This program is designed to cover fundamentals and techniques for all strokes in tennis – forehands, backhands, volleys, overheads and serves. Players will learn the importance of the rally and keeping balls in play as well as basic footwork patterns of movement. The goal for this class will be to rally with a peer at a slow to medium pace.

2.5 and Above

Senior Drill & Play

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

For players over the age of 60. You’ll work on doubles strategies and tactics through light point play at a comfortable pace while also receiving guidance on your groundstrokes, volleys, and serve. All levels are welcome (if you are new to tennis, we recommend you start with Tennis 101).

Combining fast-paced doubles drills and point play with professional coaching, this is a great opportunity to practice volleys, groundstrokes, and court positioning all while getting in a great workout. This program is open to levels 2.5 and 3.0.

Serve & Return Clinic 3.0

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Focusing on the fundamentals of both the return and serve, you’ll learn different types of serves, serve placement, and how to return effectively to help set up points in both doubles and singles situations.

Mixed Doubles Night

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Play competitive tennis and meet new friends! Men and women are paired and rotated every 30 minutes, giving you the opportunity to play with and against a variety of different players. All levels are welcome – you must be able to serve.

Singles Challenge

Levels: B (1.0) | 2.0 | 2.5 | 3.0 | 3.5 | 4.0+

Work on your singles in this fast and fun co-ed competition. Play as many games as possible in each 30 minute round. Keep track of game score. Player with the most games wins. Prizes awarded to winners!
