Vancouver Tennis Center Welcomes New Head Pro Jan Steenekamp!
One of the greatest tennis players in the University of Montana’s history, Jan Steenekamp, was named the new Head Pro at Vancouver Tennis Center in December 2023.
Jan went on to coach at the University of Montana and, in 2019, received the prestigious USTA
Intermountain Developmental Coach of the Year Award. In addition to coaching at his alma mater, Jan served as Director of Tennis at the Meadowlark Country Club in Great Falls, Montana; Director of High Performance, Darling Tennis Center in Las Vegas, Nevada; and as Director of Junior Tennis at The Peak Raquet Club in Missoula, Montana. Most recently, Jan has acted as Director of Junior Tennis at Tucker Tennis Academy, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and rated by many as the best tennis academy in the U.S., if not the world.
For the past nine years, Jan has also participated and coached in the USTA Regional Training Center camps, Team USA camps, and various National, Sectional, Cross-Sectional, and Regional camps in the Intermountain, Southwest, Southern, and Missouri Valley sections. Along the way, Jan has received a number of accolades, including the USPTA Missouri Elevate Award he received in 2021, and the USPTA Missouri Valley Oklahoma Professional of the Year Award, in 2022. His certifications include USPTA Elite Certified Tennis Professional, USTA High Performance Certified Professional, and Net Generation Provider.
